Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received Mr. Marco Carnelos, Italian Ambassador to Iraq, and his accompanying delegation, including Ms. Serena Moroni, Italian Consul General in Erbil, on the occasion of the end of his duty as Italy’s ambassador to Iraq.

Ambassador Carnelos expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Barzani and the Kurdistan Regional Government for their assistance to the Italian Embassy, hoping for further strengthening the relations between the Kurdistan Region and Italy.

Prime Minister Barzani thanked Ambassador Carnelos for his role during his duty as ambassador in Iraq, and wished him success in his new position.

The two sides stressed the importance of starting serious and constructive dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad to settle all the outstanding issues and end the current tensions. They highlighted the need for the international community, particularly the United Nations, to help preparing the ground for holding such talks.
