Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received the Czech Republic’s Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Jan Vyčítal and his accompanying delegation.
Ambassador Vyčítal stated that the objective of his visit to the Kurdistan Region is to meet Kurdistan Regional Government officials, observe closely the situation on the ground, learn about how the KRG tries to overcome current difficulties, and visit IDP camps.
He also discussed the Czech Republic's activities in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, including humanitarian assistance being distributed through NGOs in coordination with KRG institutions. He expressed his country’s willingness to support the Kurdistan Region in various fields of cooperation.
Prime Minister Barzani appreciated the humanitarian support the Czech Republic has been providing the Kurdistan Region.
He discussed the relations between Kurdistan Region and Baghdad, stressing KRG’s stance of favouring dialogue to resolve all outstanding issues.
Prime Minister Barzani briefed Ambassador Vyčítal on KRG’s efforts to resolve internal issues, plans to overcome financial difficulties, and reform plans in all sectors. He emphasized the vital role the international community can play to help IDPs, reinvigorate the Kurdistan Region’s infrastructure, and strengthen its institutions.
