Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received the US Ambassador to Iraq Mr. Douglas Silliman and his accompanying delegation.

They discussed the latest developments in the talks between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government particularly regarding the work of the committees set to deal with the issues of the salaries of the KRG Health and Education ministries, as well as resumption of international flights from and to Kurdistan Region’s airports.

The two sides hoped the talks would produce positive results and pave the way for the resolution of all outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad.

They also discussed the KRG`s participation in the upcoming Iraq Reconstruction Conference in Kuwait.

It is hoped that the Kurdistan Region will receive a share of the assistance and development projects that are expected to be implemented as part of rebuilding Iraq in post-war on ISIS.

Both sides hoped that Kurdistan will benefit from this opportunity.

The upcoming elections in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and the latest political developments in the wider region were also discussed in the meeting.
