Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Iraq, Mr. Ján Kubiš.

They discussed the political process in Iraq, the upcoming general elections in May and the participation of the Kurdistan Region in these elections.

They also discussed the outcomes of the recent talks between the Kurdistan Region and Iraqi federal government, and the work of the joint committees between the two sides, which resulted in the lifting of the ban on international flights at the Kurdistan Region’s airports, as well as partial payment of KRG civil servants salaries.

They also discussed the fight against ISIS and recent political developments in the region.
