Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani sent a congratulatory message to Ms. Nadia Murad on the occasion of receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.

Below is Prime Minister Barzani's message:

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Nadia Murad on the occasion of receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Just as her efforts always made us proud, receiving the Nobel Peace Prize made us and the entire people of Kurdistan proud.

We hope this award provides some consolation to Ms. Murad for all the hardship and pain that she and her family faced, and to provide consolation to the Yezidi community for the tragedy inflicted on them. This award is not for one person only, it is for the resilience and sacrifices of the Yezidis and all the people of Kurdistan.

Ms. Nadia Murad is the symbol of Yezidis sacrifices in defiance of terror, that carries the message of peace and humanity in the world. She has always had our full support in her humanitarian activities, and she always will.

Once again we congratulate her and wish her success.
