Erbil, Kurdistan region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received a telephone call from French President, Emmanuel Macron.

They discussed the latest political developments in Iraq and the formation of the new Iraqi government. President Macron stressed the need for the participation of all Iraqi parties, especially the Kurdistan parties in the political process and the formation of the new Iraqi government.

Prime Minister Barzani thanked France and President Macron for their continued support to the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. He stressed that the Kurdistan Region will participate in the political process and the formation of the new Iraqi government.

He hoped that the relations between France and Iraq as well as the Kurdistan Region will continue in all fields.

Prime Minister Barzani also thanked President Macron for his determining role in easing the tensions, after the events of October last year, and urging the resumption of dialogue between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad in order to settle the differences and breaking the blockade imposed on the Kurdistan Region.
