Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd). Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received representatives of thirty American companies, members of the US-Kurdistan Business Council.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed gratefulness for American humanitarian and military assistance to the Kurdistan Region during its fight against terrorism.

He briefed the delegation on the situation, including causes of recent crises and aspects of economic progress.

He stressed that the private sector is very welcoming to foreign investors, and that the KRG is ready to provide necessary facilities and assistance. He noted that a reform project promoting good governance has been submitted to the Kurdistan Parliament.

The delegation commended the KRG’s successful efforts in overcoming crises and highly valued the sacrifices of the people of the Kurdistan Region and the Peshmerga in the fight against terrorism.

They noted opportunities for infrastructure development, and that the KRG offers a legal environment favorable to investors. Various representatives spoke of their particular commercial interests in the Region.

The political and security situation of the greater region as well as the formation of both the Iraqi and Kurdistan governments were also discussed.
