Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani today received the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Iraq, Mr. Ján Kubiš to exchange views about the need to start talks between Erbil and Baghdad on both technical and political levels.

In the meeting, also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, both sides shed light on the latest regional political developments in general and the tensions between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad in particular.

Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the role the United Nations can play in preparing the ground and facilitate dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad.
