Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – Prime Minister Barzani received Ms. Beata Kempa, Poland’s Minister for Humanitarian Aid and her accompanying delegation.

Ms. Kamba praised the people and government of the Kurdistan Region for having sheltered and offered assistance to a large number of refugees and displaced persons who fled terrorism en mass. She considered that further international community’s assistance to the displaced is needed, and expressed her country's willingness to contribute.

She highlighted the peaceful coexistence which prevails among religious and ethnic communities in the Kurdistan Region, and commended the Kurdistan Regional Government efforts in promoting it.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed hope that the delegation will have a clear picture about the situation of the displaced, stressing that the Kurdistan Region, as in the past, will continue to promote the principles of religious coexistence. He also praised the role of the international community in persuading the displaced not to leave the country.

Prime Minister Barzani stressed the protection of various communities by Kurdistan’s people, government and Peshmerga forces during the fight against ISIS. He also thanked the international and local non-governmental organizations for their assistance to the displaced and refugees.

He hoped that Poland will brief other European Union countries about the situation of the displaced persons and refugees to motivate them to help improving their living conditions.
