Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received Iraqi Minister of Interior, Qassem Al-Araji and his accompanying delegation.

The latest developments in the talks between the Kurdistan Region and Iraqi federal government and the decision to resume international flights to and from Erbil and Suleimaniya international airports were discussed.

They hoped that this step will mark the beginning of a trust-building process that will be followed by other steps leading to the settlement of all outstanding issues. They stressed the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding in order to settle the differences on the basis of the Iraqi federal constitution.

In the meeting, which was also attended by Kurdistan Regional Government Minister of Interior, Karim Sinjari, they discussed the security situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and poissible terrorist threats. Both sides stressed further strengthening of security cooperation and coordination and information exchange between the Regional and Federalm Ministries of Interior.
