Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Maksim Maksimov and his accompanying delegation, including Russian Consul General in Erbil, Victor Simakov, General Director of Gazprom Neft Middle East, Sergei Petrov, Gazprom Erbil office director, Olig Bligin, and Baghdad Russian Embassy advisor, Mand Andrey.

The Russian delegation extended the condolences of the Russian Government to Prime Minister Barzani on the passing of his brother, Mr. Dilovan Idris Barzani.

Discussing bilateral relations, the delegation expressed support for further strengthening the ties between the two sides. They expressed their satisfaction with the progress made in the recent talks between the Kurdistan Region and Iraqi federal government.

Prime Minister Barzani stated that the Kurdistan Regional Government attaches great importance to the relationship between Kurdistan Region and Russia. He expressed his government’s readiness to further develop these relations, particularly in the economic field, and offer support to Russian investors, who wish investing in the Kurdistan Region.
