Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Iraq, Ján Kubiš and his accompanying delegation.

They discussed the political process in Iraq and expressed hope that the new Iraqi government will actively work to meet the needs of all segments of society, including provision of basic services and ensure the rights of all Iraqi communities. The important role of the Kurdistan Region in promoting and ensuring these rights was emphasized.

The Kurdistan Region’s political situation, including the recent parliamentary elections, the holding of the first session of the Kurdistan Parliament and the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government, were also discussed.

The situation of the greater region in general and other issues related to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region were also discussed.
