Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - On the passing of former U.S. President George H.W. Bush, Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani extended condolences to the former American president’s family.

Below is the text of Prime Minister Barzani's message:

On the passing of former President George H.W. Bush, I extend my condolences to his family, former President George W. Bush and his loved ones. May God grant the Bush family and his friends comfort and peace during this difficult time.

The people of Kurdistan have always admired and respected him, as he played an important role in establishing the no-fly zone in 1991 that protected the people of Kurdistan from injustice and oppression of the Baathist regime, and helped the Kurdistan Region to progress.

President George H. W. Bush’s memories will live on within the hearts of the people of Kurdistan.
