Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received U.S. Consul General to the Kurdistan Region Steven Fagin, and his accompanying delegation.

They discussed bilateral relations. relations, ways to strengthen them, the economic condition of the Kurdistan Region, and situation of displaced people in the Region.

Consul General Fagin commended the Kurdistan Regional Government for accommodating and providing assistance to an extraordinary number of displaced people. In this regard, he stressed cooperation among the Kurdistan Region, Baghdad and the international community. 

He also expressed appreciation for the attention the KRG pays to coexistence and tolerance among all ethnic and religious communities.

On the political situation, Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the efforts to form the new KRG cabinet, continuation of the reform process and the latest developments in relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad.

The situation of the Middle East and the latest developments in the region were also discussed.
