Signing of the letter of intent between KRG Representative in Poland and President of Fine Arts Academy in Krakow
Poland (GOV.KRD) - Ziyad Raoof KRG Representative in Poland and professor Andrzej Bednarczyk, president of Jan Matejko Fine Arts Academy in Krakow (ASP), signed a letter of intent.
Both sides of the agreement declared work towards establishing cooperation between Fine Arts Academy and artistic circles in Kurdistan Region as well as intensification of contacts between academic staff and students from both countries.
Letter signatories also declared intent to organize in Poland exhibitions of Kurdish artists, organize in Kurdistan exhibitions of Polish artists and exchange documents, information and archives about history of cooperation between Polish, Kurdish and Iraqi artists.
Jan Matejko Fine Arts Academy in Krakow is the oldest artistic university in Poland. In the middle of the 20th century a group of professors from ASP taught in Baghdad.
They educated a circle of Kurdish and Iraqi artists and had significant influence on the development of contemporary art in Iraq and Kurdistan.
The signing of the letter of intent is the result of the promotion of Kurdish art in Poland carried out by the KRG Representation for many years, longtime efforts of the KRG Representative Ziyad Raoof and the interest of the authorities and lecturers of the Academy of Fine Arts Kraków in Kurdish art.
