Deputy Prime Minister Talabani meets with US Ambassador in Baghdad, discusses new Iraqi cabinet and disputes with federal government

Baghdad, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Wednesday met with U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Matthew Tueller to discuss the formation of Iraq’s new cabinet and outstanding problems between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region.

The Deputy Prime Minister is heading a Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) delegation to Baghdad to discuss bilateral relations, including budgetary issues.

In the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Talabani reiterated the Kurdistan Region’s support for the formation of a new federal government, and stressed the KRG’s commitment to stability in Iraq and resolving outstanding problems between Erbil and Baghdad.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s will to improve bilateral relations with the federal government, and hoped they can settle disputes based on the Iraqi constitution and previous agreements.
