Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani meets with American delegation

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Wednesday met with a US delegation led by Paul Grove of the Senate Appropriations Committee Office’s Subcommittee on Foreign Operations and Related Programs, and US Consult General to Erbil, Robert Palladino, to discuss regional developments and the upcoming Iraqi elections.

Both sides agreed that the upcoming elections must be held on time and in a free and transparent manner as the different possible outcomes will affect Iraq’s stability, the overall security situation, and the country’s economic recovery.

Deputy Prime Minister Talabani emphasised the need for meaningful reform to Iraq’s political system and nonpartisan legislation on oil and gas to strengthen the economy. He also recommended an increase in efforts in the fight against terrorism and heightened cooperation between Coalition forces and the Iraqi and Kurdistan Region’s forces.
