Statement by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Pirde ISIS attack

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Qubad Talabani today issued the following statement:

“We strongly condemn the attack by ISIS members that targeted barricades of the Kurdistan’s Peshmerga forces in Pirde, and reissue a call to our allies to help fill security gaps in vulnerable areas to prevent and respond to persisting terrorist threats.

“These attacks remind us that more should be done to confront terrorism in all its forms. We cannot allow ourselves to be intimidated by these tactics and we must act to eliminate threats to international peace and security.

“We extend our condolences to the families of the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the peace and stability of the Kurdistan Region and wish those injured a speedy recovery.”
