Prime Minister Barzani chairs meeting with KRG delegation to Baghdad

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today chaired a meeting with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) delegation leading talks with the Federal Government of Iraq. The delegation is set to return to Baghdad on Monday 25 November to resume meetings.

Prime Minister Barzani and Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani were informed that talks on the 2020 Budget and a potential oil and gas sharing agreement were at an advanced stage.

Prime Minister Barzani welcomed the update, emphasising that securing a fair and equitable share of federal revenues is a primary objective for the government and crucial to delivering a stronger, more prosperous Kurdistan Region.

The Prime Minister noted that since inauguration the government has successfully worked to develop a constructive relationship with the leadership in Baghdad based on upholding the rights of the Kurdistan Region as enshrined in the constitution.

Prime Minister Barzani thanked the delegation for its work in reaching a common understanding with Baghdad on a range of issues, noting that their efforts are bearing valuable outcomes for the people of both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
