Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received the outgoing United Nations Secretary General Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq, UNAMI, Ján Kubiš.

UN Special Representative Kubiš spoke of UNAMI’s activities in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He thanked Kurdistan Regional Government’s institutions for the cooperation and facilities provided to him and hoped for further progress of the Region.

He said he built good friendships in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and highly appreciated the participation of the Kurdistan Region in the new Iraqi government.

Prime Minister Barzani praised the efforts of UN Special Representative Kubiš during an especially difficult period in getting the Iraqi political parties closer as well as promoting stability and reconciliation. He wished him success in his next position.

He also assured Mr. Kubiš of the friendship of the Kurdistan's people and government and said the Kurdistan Region will always be a second home to him.
