Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Calls for Peaceful Coexistence on the 50th Anniversary of the Surya Massacre

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani offered a hopeful message of peace on Monday during a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Surya Massacre.

Prime Minister Barzani strongly condemned the mass killing of Assyrian, Chaldean and Muslim men, women and children in the village of Surya, in the province of Duhok, in 1969.

On this solemn occasion, the Prime Minister emphasised the importance of peaceful coexistence and pluralism among all sections of the Kurdistan Region’s population.
