Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - As part of joint efforts to advance the Kurdistan Regional Government’s ambitious reform and infrastructure plan, the Ministry of Electricity has undertaken serious work in digitizing its power grid and enhancing the efficiency of power stations.

The digitalization project, led by Minister of Electricity Kamal Mohammed Saleh with the support of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, is jointly being implemented by (USLUEL-USKOM J.V) as the main contractor under the support of Japan’s International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and is estimated to cost 5 Million Euros.

The Digitalization is based on a Mini-SCADA and VoIP system, which will centralize control of the Kurdistan Region’s power grid, as well as improve data collection and the transmission of key information between the power stations and boost the reliability and efficiency of electric power distribution.
