Peshmerga Chief of Staff meets with Iraqi Prime Minister

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD)- Peshmerga Chief of Staff, Issa Ozer on Monday led a delegation from Ministry of Peshmerga on a visit to Baghdad where they met with several officials.

In his first meeting, Peshmerga Chief of Staff met with Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani. He congratulated the Prime Minister on assuming office and wished him luck in maintaining peace and stability in the country, and in developing Baghdad’s ties with Erbil.

The Iraqi Prime Minister reiterated Baghdad’s commitment to previous plans set out by Peshmerga and Iraqi security forces, adding that he will work towards ensuring these are put into practice.

Later, the Peshmerga delegation met with the Minister of Interior, Abdulamir Shammari and Minister of Defense, Thabit Mohammed Abbasi.

The Peshmerga Chief of Staff called for the strengthening of relations between the Iraqi Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Peshmerga, especially in fighting the threats imposed by terrorists.
