KRG’s Ministry of Transport and Communications designs postal stamps on the occasion of Kurdistan Flag Day

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) - Citizens of the Kurdistan Region commemorate Kurdistan Flag Day on December 17 annually by organizing several activities in the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) institutions.

This year, the KRG’s Ministry of Transport and Communications designed six postal stamps with different photos and designs.

After the Kurdistan Parliament designated December 17 as Kurdistan Flag Day in all cities and towns of the Region in 2009, locals have been celebrating the flag.

In 1992, the Kurdistan National Council decided to declare the current flag of the Kurdistan Region as the official flag and symbol of the KRG.

In 1999, the KRG sent a draft law on the flag of Kurdistan to the Kurdistan National Council, resulting in the passing of Law No. 14 on the flag of Kurdistan on November 11 of the same year.
