High-level research is the reason why Salahaddin University is ranked first in Iraq

According to the scientific rankings of the website (Clarivate), Salahaddin University for the second time at the level of universities in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and within the framework of the research presented from 2018 to 2022, won the first place. For this purpose, Dr. Karzan Sheikh Mohsin, Director of the Scientific Research Center of Salahaddin University, answered several questions regarding this matter:

How are the principles and criteria for evaluating universities worldwide?
Dr. Karzan: Salahaddin University – Erbil is one of the largest and oldest universities in Kurdistan. Due to its location in the capital of the Kurdistan Region and the large number of teachers, researchers and students working and studying there, the world's scientific institutions are paying close attention to the scientific aspect of the university to see how far its scientific rankings are improving.
In the recently announced ranking, Salahaddin University ranked first in Iraq, because in the past five years, its research has been of high quality and has a very high impact and the number of scientific takes from these researches has set a record in Iraq; According to the statistics, Salahadin university is the best researchers in Iraq in several fields, such as petroleum geology, biological advances, cancer, cancer research, diseases and microbes.

Are universities evaluated annually for one year or are several years of research taken together?
Dr. Karzan: A global agency called Ubometrics does the ranking, using several methods and rankings, one of which is the research period of the past five years at the university to see how much people have benefited from it. These studies continue annually, but data are collected for five years and presented later.

How difficult will the task of Salahaddin University be after obtaining this degree and what are the plans for next year?
Dr. Karzan: After the ranking, there are two points: One is that universities and researchers are trying to maintain this rank, according to the plans we have for next year, there will be more research. The second is that the university must keep pace with the development of the world and the research must be at a level of the world.
