KRG calls for international recognition of ISIS crimes as acts of genocide

 

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – The Department of Foreign Relations today hosted a special session for the KRG High Committee for the recognition of crimes committed against Ezidi Kurds and other ethnic and religious minorities as acts of genocide to brief diplomats on the activities and the mission of the committee.

In the opening remarks, the committee supports the decision of the German Parliament to recognize the crimes of the terrorist organization ISIS against the Ezidi Kurds and other ethnic and thanked the German parliament, government and all those countries that have previously recognized the crime as genocide and called for other countries to take the same step to recognize the crimes committed against the Ezidi Kurds and other ethnic and religious minorities as acts of genocide, the committee pointed that the recognition of ISIS crimes as genocide, is the legal and humanitarian responsibility of the international community and national institutions.

During the session, the Committee supported the achievement of justice through the prosecution of perpetrators and compensation of victims, and the implementation of the Sinjar Agreement to restore stability to these areas and provide necessary services to citizens. the Committee stressed on continue to collect data and evidence in order to achieve justice for the victims.
