Statement on complaint dismissed by the US District Court for the District of Columbia
Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) – On Wednesday, U.S. Federal Judge Randolph Moss found plaintiffs’ claims against Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and his family and the Kurdistan Regional Government so woefully lacking that the entire action was dismissed against all 63 named defendants.
The Honorable Judge Moss also forewarned in court that the plaintiffs, which are led by an individual subjected to a criminal conviction and civil court sanctions in Germany, could be subject to serious sanctions by the court.
The counsel for the KRG Representation in the United States underscored that this lawsuit is a foreign political fight in the lead-up to the Kurdistan Region’s upcoming election and constitutes a serious misuse of the court.
