Kurdistan Region Expands Road Network to Boost Connectivity and Growth

The Ninth Cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has completed over 700 road projects and invested more than IQD 6 trillion to modernise transport infrastructure across the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

This programme has delivered 2,618 kilometres of new roads outside urban areas, improved thousands of streets, and introduced modern road signage and lane markings to enhance safety and efficiency.

These upgrades are reducing travel times, improving trade routes, and strengthening links between rural communities, cities, and regional markets — laying the groundwork for sustained economic growth.
