KRG Official Website Ranks Second Nationwide Among News and Media Platforms

According to the latest global rankings by SimilarWeb, which analyse web traffic and online data, the official website of the Kurdistan Regional Government (gov.krd) has been ranked Second in Iraq within the News and Media Publishers category.
Observers note that the growing reach of the government’s website reflects an evolving pattern in communication between citizens and public institutions. This development is associated with several factors, notably the website’s role as a central source for official information, Citizens, media outlets, and journalists increasingly consult the platform to access and verify government announcements and decisions, either through shared links on social media or by visiting the website directly. This practice has contributed to increased online engagement and traffic.
During the period of the ninth cabinet, the official government website was developed into a unified media platform. Under the supervision of the Department of Media and Information, the websites of ministries, departments, public bodies, and a number of other government institutions were brought together within a single, coordinated digital network.
The platform publishes daily content in Kurdish, Arabic, and English, including official decrees, reports, data, and updates on government activities. It also provides public information and guidance related to government services.
The latest SimilarWeb rankings underline progress made by the Kurdistan Regional Government in digital communication, highlighting efforts to establish a clear, accessible, and reliable channel for engagement with citizens, media professionals, journalists, researchers, and academic audiences.
