Over 13,000 Stranded Citizens of Kurdistan Region Assisted Abroad

In response to a week of regional tensions and the suspension of airline services, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), under the directive of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, initiated a comprehensive and urgent plan to ensure the safe return of Kurdistan Region citizens stranded abroad.

The KRG Ministry of the Interior, the Department of Foreign Relations, and the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs coordinated closely with relevant countries to help resolve the issue.

In this context, after assuring citizens of their safe return, a dedicated hotline was established, followed by the launch of a registration form. In coordination with Türkiye, three-day visas were provided to facilitate their return.

This initiative has addressed the cases of 13,001 citizens, enabling their return — many of whom have already arrived, while the repatriation process continues. As for citizens in Iran, 5,000 have returned so far.

The KRG assures citizens that hotlines remain available and encourages them to seek assistance whenever needed.
