Over 90% of unified Peshmerga brigades paid digitally in May

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is pleased to announce that more than 90% of the Peshmerga in the unified brigades received their allowances through digital payments in May.

This is an important milestone, and as part of the agreement between the United States and the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs, to distribute of US-funded allowances through bank accounts.

To date, more than 750,000 beneficiaries on the public payroll have registered for bank accounts under the KRG’s financial inclusion programme, MyAccount. Last month, over 365,000 civil servants were paid digitally through partner banks licensed and approved by the Central Bank of Iraq.

Nearly 400 ATMs have been deployed across the Kurdistan Region to provide citizens with 24-hour access to cash.
