Smaquli-Gomaspan Road Project Under Implementation

Following the completion of the Gomaspan Dam, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has begun construction of a new 22-kilometre two-way road as part of the ongoing project.
The road will be built around the Gomaspan Dam, connecting the Gomaspan Intersection to Smaquli Road.
The project includes six underbridges, three overbridges, and seventy box waterways, along with all associated infrastructure such as retaining walls, fences, traffic signs, and road markings.
With a budget of IQD 210 billion, the project is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
Upon completion, the new road will significantly improve travel convenience for drivers and transform the area into an attractive destination for tourists.
The ninth cabinet of the KRG remains committed to the belief that Kurdistan’s growth depends on robust infrastructure development and continues to actively pursue such initiatives.
