KRG Launches 1,119 Road Projects to Strengthen Regional Connectivity

To enhance road infrastructure, stimulate trade, industry, and tourism, improve citizen mobility, reduce traffic accidents, and strengthen links between cities, towns, and villages, the Ninth Cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has launched a comprehensive programme of strategic road projects.

Under the Ninth Cabinet, 1,119 road projects have been initiated at a total cost exceeding IQD 4.3 trillion. Of these, 718 projects have been completed, while 401 are currently under implementation.

Together, these projects will deliver over 5,126 kilometres of new and upgraded roads, reducing travel times, improving safety, and enabling traders, tourists, and farmers to move more efficiently across the region. The initiative represents a major step towards sustainable economic growth and regional connectivity.
