KRG Repatriates 40 Citizens Detained in Libya

Forty citizens of the Kurdistan Region who had attempted to migrate abroad illegally were detained in Libya and faced difficult conditions. With the intervention of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the necessary steps were taken to secure their repatriation, and they arrived at Erbil International Airport on Sunday morning, 26 October 2025.

With the support of Ahmad Al-Sahaf, Chargé d’Affaires at the Iraqi Embassy in Libya, the repatriation process was successfully carried out. Upon arrival in the Kurdistan Region, teams from the KRG Ministry of Interior and the Department of Foreign Relations, along with medical and support personnel, received the returnees. After completing the necessary procedures and medical examinations to ensure their well-being, all the individuals were reunited with their families.
