KRG’s Infrastructure Drive Accelerates Urban Renewal Across Kurdistan

Under the Ninth Cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), more than 2,168 inner-city road projects have been implemented across cities and towns at a total cost exceeding IQD 2.2 trillion.
All projects have been executed in accordance with international engineering standards, ensuring full compliance with traffic geometry requirements. To date, 883 kilometres of road markings, 59 overpasses and underpasses, and 16,000 traffic signs have been installed.
In addition, the projects include 45 kilometres of crash barriers, 296 pedestrian crossings, and 1,500 speed bumps, significantly improving road safety and urban mobility.
For the first time, all traffic geometry work under this Cabinet has been conducted entirely by local technical teams, marking an important milestone in the development of domestic engineering capacity within the Kurdistan Region.
