KRG Strengthens Food Security with Expanded Wheat Storage and Marketing Support

The ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has made significant strides in supporting farmers and enhancing food security.
Four silos with a combined capacity of 160,000 tonnes of wheat have been constructed at a cost of IQD 84 billion, with additional silos planned in Duhok, Zakho, Kifri, Koya, and Harir.
The cabinet also implemented a policy to market and sell farmers’ wheat, enabling local factories to transform the harvested wheat into a variety of products, boosting the regional agricultural economy.
