Tourism Flourishes Under KRG’s Ninth Cabinet with Major Investments

September 27, 2025 marks World Tourism Day, as declared by the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

Under the Ninth Cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the tourism sector has achieved remarkable growth, supported by major infrastructure investments.

During this period, 80 new tourism projects have been implemented, with a total value of approximately $7.56 billion.

Today, the Kurdistan Region offers more than 3,000 tourist destinations and facilities, including hotels, motels, restaurants, cafés, resorts, and natural attractions. Among the registered facilities are 480 hotels, 282 motels, 44 resorts, 20 tourist villages, around 1,000 restaurants and fast-food outlets, roughly 700 cafés, and 28 amusement parks.

These developments, combined with enhanced infrastructure and road networks, have revitalised the tourism sector, attracting an estimated 7–8 million visitors to the Kurdistan Region annually.
