KRG Marks a Major Turning Point in the Education Sector in 2025

As part of its ongoing commitment to the education sector and to fostering a well-informed generation, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) implemented a series of strategic initiatives and major projects in 2025, with a focus on infrastructure, technology, and reintegrating students into the education system.

Summary of 2025 Achievements in the Education Sector

1. Increased Student Enrolment and Re-integration
In 2025, 154,660 new students were enrolled, bringing the total number of students in the Kurdistan Region to 1,827,572 across 7,585 schools. In addition, a national campaign successfully returned 8,836 students to classrooms, raising the total number of students reintegrated during the Ninth Cabinet’s tenure to 42,107.

2. Digital Transformation in Education
To enhance learning outcomes and raise academic standards, five key digital platforms were launched:
- e-Halsangandn (Assessment) Application
- Digital Schools Initiative
- Certificate Translation Digitisation System
- Qutabxanakam (My School) Digital Platform
- Barawrdkari (Comparison) Platform for evaluating academic performance

3. Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development
In terms of physical infrastructure, 30 new school buildings were constructed in 2025, and foundation stones were laid for an additional 30 schools. Moreover, 43 schools across various cities and towns underwent comprehensive renovations.

4. Innovation and Clean Energy
As part of efforts to integrate technology into classrooms, 200 smart boards were distributed to schools across governorates and self-administration districts. To support environmental sustainability and ensure reliable electricity, 32 additional schools were equipped with solar energy systems.

The KRG continues to strengthen the education sector as a cornerstone of societal development, while providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
