Deputy Prime Minister Talabani meets with Iraqi Parliament Speaker, addresses Erbil’s concerns on lingering disputes with Baghdad

Baghdad, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Wednesday met with Mohammed al-Halbousi, the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, in Baghdad to seek a solution to the outstanding problems between Erbil and Baghdad.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and Mr al-Halbousi shared their views on disputes between the KRG and the federal government, and agreed that these issues need a definitive solution.

Problems concerning oil sales and the budget allocation remain a stumbling block in relations between Erbil and Baghdad, with the federal government recently cutting KRG’s share of the federal budget.

The KRG delegation will continue its meetings with Iraqi authorities in Baghdad tonight and tomorrow, in an attempt to settle these disputes and move forward in their relations.
