Deputy Prime Minister Talabani meets with the Political Board of the Sadrist Movement, seeks support for solution to problems with Baghdad

Baghdad, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Wednesday met with the Political Board of the Sadrist Movement in Baghdad, to exchange views on finding a way to settle disputes between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government.

In the meeting, both parties underlined the importance of continued bilateral relations in order to reach an agreement on outstanding problems, including oil and budgetary issues.

In expressing their support for resolving these issues, the Board stressed that they will not condone violations of peoples’ rights in the Kurdistan Region.

Deputy Prime Minister Talabani thanked the Board for its stance on the KRG's efforts to resolve disputes with the federal government. He emphasised the importance of continued coordination between all Iraqi parties to resolve existing and emerging problems during the challenging economic situation, partly caused by the global lockdown following the coronavirus pandemic.

The Board, headed by Nasser al-Rubaiee, agreed to maintain contact with the KRG delegation.
