Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani receives leading economist Tomas Sedlacek

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani today met with leading Czech economist, Dr. Tomas Sedlacek, to discuss ways to reinvigorate and diversify the Kurdistan Region’s economy.

Deputy Prime Minister Talabani officially sought out Dr. Sedlacek’s advice and invited him to the Kurdistan Region to consult on practical measures to advance the diversification of the government’s revenue sources and reduce reliance on oil exports.

The Deputy Prime Minister briefed Dr Sedlacek on the government’s progress implementing its reform agenda and outlined the challenges caused by the financial crisis. He also asked for advice on how to further strengthen the Kurdistan Region’s infrastructure systems and attract trade and investment.

Dr. Sedlacek expressed readiness to assist the Kurdistan Regional Government in this regard, ensuring it can also benefit from the Czech Republic’s experience.
