Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani meets with Economic Delegation from French Embassy in Iraq

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani today received a delegation from the Economic Department of the French Embassy in Iraq, headed by Frances de Reykovis, Head the economic department of the French embassies in the Middle East.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed practical steps for the regional government following the recent passing of the 2021 federal budget bill.

The French delegation praised the role of the Kurdistan Regional Government in negotiating and reaching a solution with the Federal Government of Iraq to pass the budget bill, and expressed its full support in helping the federal government and the region resolve outstanding disputes.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated that the Kurdistan Regional Government remains open to all dialogue and that it would continue pushing forward with its reform package to tackle bureaucratic hurdles in its ministries and institutions.

The French delegation also affirmed its country’s readiness to assist the Kurdistan Regional Government in developing the capabilities of government employees and employees in the field of tax regulation, as well as in the fields of economics, accounting, financing and banking, through a special learning and exchange programme.
