Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani and KRG Board of Education make important announcement

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani today met with the Board of Education, the President of the Diwan of the Council of Ministers, and the Head of Department of Coordination and Follow-Up to discuss the upcoming school year and how the government can continue supporting schools across the Kurdistan Region.

To assist with a safe return to in-class learning starting 14 September, 2021, Deputy Prime Minister Talabani affirmed the Kurdistan Regional Government will work with the Ministry of Education to provide necessary supplies to students and teachers to resume learning in school and follow official health guidelines to protect against COVID-19.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research also laid out steps for the start of the new academic year and in-class learning at universities and colleges while ensuring official COVID-19 health guidelines are implemented.

During the meeting, they discussed updating the enrollment and admission system for post-secondary education institutions to reflect the current labour market and skills in demand in the Kurdistan Region, such as the development of professional technical degrees.

The Minister of Education also announced the results of the 12th grade exams would be published today.
