Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani receives Armenian Consul General

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Monday welcomed Arshak Manoukian, the Armenian Consul General in Erbil, to explore bilateral ties and opportunities for greater cooperation.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed possible joint ventures and exchange of knowledge and expertise in the fields of science and the environment, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Armenian scientific institutions and universities in the Kurdistan Region. They also discussed the development and expansion of the Halabja Genocide Museum, with the Deputy Prime Minister welcoming Armenia’s readiness to assist with the project.

The Deputy Prime Minister praised the proposed initiative to have expert ophthalmologists from Armenia inspect and treat patients in the Kurdistan Region, free of charge. Both sides agreed to continue exploring avenues to further strengthen relations between Armenia and the Kurdistan Region.
