Kurdistan Regional Government’s High-level Delegation meets with Sadr Movement

Baghdad, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – The Kurdistan Regional Government's high-level delegation leading negotiations with Baghdad, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, today met with the Sadr Movement’s political body, led by Nasar al-Rubaie, to discuss the latest developments regarding Iraq’s 2021 federal budget bill.

During the meeting, both sides agreed on the need to reach an agreement on 2021 draft federal budget and overcome obstacles through dialogue and on the basis of the constitution. The Kurdistan Regional Government delegation reaffirmed its commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes with the Federal Government of Iraq and to addressing budget issues in a way that serves the interests of the population.

The officials also recognised the importance a long-term strategic solution to the problems between Erbil and Baghdad. The Sadr Movement reasserted their support for the protection of the rights of all Iraqis.
