Deputy Prime Minister meets with US Ambassador to Iraq
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani today met with US Ambassador to Iraq, Matthew Tuller, in Erbil to discuss ongoing negotiations between Erbil and Baghdad, as well as progress with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s reform agenda.
In the meeting, attended by US Consul General in Erbil, Rob Waller, the Deputy Prime Minister extended his congratulations to the new administration and recalled President Joe Biden’s strong relationship with the region. He noted that the Kurdistan Regional Government hopes this will be an opportunity for ties between the Kurdistan Region and the United States to further deepen.
The Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of the upcoming elections in Iraq, affirming this is a decisive time for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and called on the international community to help support a free and transparent election process.
He also outlined progress with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s reform agenda in various fields and next steps. US Ambassador Tueller praised the Kurdistan Regional Government’s efforts in implementing a progressive reform agenda and reiterated his country’s continuous support to the Kurdistan Region.
