KRG Deputy Prime Minister Talabani meets with UK Ambassador and Consul General

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani today received UK Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hickey, and UK Consul-General in Erbil, James Thornton, to thank them for their work and experience as their tenure comes to an end.

Deputy Prime Minister Talabani thanked both officials for all their support to the region, including their personal contribution to the promotion of the relations between the two nations and their assistance with the KRG’s reform process and the reorganisation of the Peshmerga Forces.

Both sides acknowledged the continued challenges facing Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, including the upcoming Iraqi elections, which will be a critical test for the country to ensure transparency and trust in the political system.

As part of their farewell message, Ambassador Hickey and Consul-General Thornton expressed their support for the unification of the Peshmerga Forces and shared their government’s commitment to supporting the Kurdistan Region.
