Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani meets with British military delegation

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani today met with a British military delegation headed by the UK’s Defence Senior Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa (DSAME), Air Marshal Martin Sampson, and the UK’s Consul General in Erbil, David Hunt, to discuss the recent political turmoil in Iraq, as well as the latest developments with the Peshmerga reform process.

Both parties strongly condemned the recent attack that targeted Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kadhami, and warned against any escalation of violence.

Deputy Prime Minister Talabani urged for national reconciliation and peaceful dialogue between all parties in Iraq. He also highlighted the need for Kurds to also present a united front in Baghdad to ensure Kurdistani rights are protected and respected.

Joined by the Minister of Peshmerga Affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked the delegation for its ongoing support in advancing reforms within the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs, and welcomed greater coordination between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the UK.
