Deputy PM Qubad Talabani meets Greek officials

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Thursday met with former Greek Minister for Foreign Affairs and National Defense, Dimitris Avramopoulos, and Greek National Security Advisor, Thanos Dokos, on the sidelines of the Delphi Economic Forum.

In the meeting with Mr. Avramopoulos, discussions centered on elevating ties between the Kurdistan Region and Greece.

Deputy Prime Minister Talabani emphasized the advantages for Greek and other European companies in investing in the Kurdistan Region, adding that the KRG will help facilitate the process.

Later, Deputy Prime Minister Talabani met with Greece's National Security Advisor, with discussions focused on eradicating terrorism. Both sides agreed that a poor economic situation and insufficient governance would be siezed upon by extremist groups.

The importance of food security in improving people's lives was also discussed, with Deputy Prime Minister Talabani emphasizing the Kurdistan Region’s potential role as a bread basket for neighboring countries, given its abundant and fertile agricultural land.
