Deputy PM Qubad Talabani meets with Georgian ambassador to Iraq
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Wednesday met with the Georgian Ambassador to Iraq, Zara Candilac, to discuss developing bilateral ties between Georgia and the Kurdistan Region.
They explored ways to improve trade relations between the Kurdistan Region and Georgia, as well as how to boost cultural exchanges and tourism. The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the establishment of a consulate in Erbil will be a welcomed first step, and shared the Kurdistan Regional Government’s readiness to help in that regard.
Deputy Prime Minister Talabani also stressed the need for a political resolution to the current gridlock in Baghdad, which should be based on the principles of fairness and compromise.
The two officials agreed that parties should prioritize the formation of the new Iraqi government and reach a solution through peaceful and meaningful dialogue.
